Billy Maloz joined the firm in 2003 and became a partner in 2007. The focus of his practice is insurance coverage and coverage litigation involving all manner of marine insurance, commercial property insurance, and general liability insurance. He has significant experience in admiralty and maritime law, energy matters, and environmental and toxic torts.
Mr. Maloz has handled numerous insurance coverage cases involving large scale, first-party property and business interruption losses sustained by offshore vessel fleets, shipyards, marinas, and major gas and electricity utilities. He has also handled numerous third-party cases involving personal injury and death, property damage, marine casualties, and both marine pollution incidents and non-marine pollution incidents, including oilfield remediation cases. He has significant experience litigating complex multi-party lawsuits and advising clients on claim handling issues.
Mr. Maloz attended Louisiana State University on an Alumni Association Top 100 Scholarship and graduated magna cum laude in 1996. In 1999, he graduated from Tulane University Law School, where he served as a Senior Fellow teaching assistant in the Legal Research and Writing program and an Articles Editor of the Tulane Law Review. He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard from 1993 until 2001, where he served as an Interrogator in the 415th Military Intelligence Battalion and received several commendations for his work in this field, including being named the Battalion Soldier of the Year in 1996.
