Angie Akers joined the firm in 2001 and became a partner in 2007. The focus of her practice is insurance coverage and coverage litigation involving commercial property insurance and homeowners insurance. She has significant experience in class action litigation, automobile liability litigation, and general casualty litigation.
Ms. Akers has handled numerous cases involving personal injury and death, property damage, and fire litigation. She has defended insurers in hundreds of cases involving commercial property and homeowners claims arising out of major hurricanes, including complex mass joinder and class action litigation. She has significant experience litigating complex multi-party lawsuits.
Ms. Akers graduated summa cum laude from Spring Hill College in 1997, where she was awarded both the Brady Award and the McClain Essay Award for distinguished writing. She then graduated from Tulane University Law School in 2000. While in law school, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Robert Klees of the Louisiana Court of Appeal for the Fourth Circuit.
